NICHE WALL
INTERNMENT OF ASHES
Ashes may be interred in the niche wall at Christ Church Mandurah upon acceptance of a request to do so and payment of the fees applicable at the time. It is possible for ashes to be interred in the church gardens where a memorial plaque is attached to the niche wall. Internment is only permitted to be done by approved persons acting on behalf of the Anglican Parish of Mandurah.
MEMORIALIZATION
Only one memorialisation in/on the Niche Walls per person is permitted.
PLAQUES
Only plaques ordered by the parish from the approved foundry and described herein are able to be attached to the niche wall.
WORDING
In the case of wording for a plaque being provided at the time of a reservation being made, any changes to the wording will only be accepted from the person to be memorialized or their next of kin / executor. In all other circumstances wording will only be accepted from the next of kin / executor of the person to be memorialized.
DEATH CERTIFICATE
At the time of arranging the internment of ashes of a deceased person, a copy of the death certificate will be requested for our records.
TENURE
In the event that a niche has not been used within 25 years of the date of reservation, the reservation will need to be reconfirmed, and an additional administrative fee may be applicable. A right of tenure is provided for a period of 25 years from the time of internment of ashes. This period may be extended for a further 25 years, at a cost to be advised on application. At the end of the ten ure the care and control of the memorial will revert to the Parish Council of the Anglican Parish of Mandurah, or its successor.

To enable the parish to contact whoever will be handling affairs relating to a plaque in the future, please ensure that you keep us informed of any change in your contact details.
FLORAL TRIBUTES
Any floral tributes must fit into the bud vases purchased as part of plaques. Such flowers must not obscure other plaques. Dead flowers will be removed and disposed as part of our garden maintenance routine. Additional vases/jars are not allowed and will be removed and disposed of. Pushing anything in behind the plaque will break the bond between brick and plaque and will mean the plaque and ashes are no longer secure. Such items will be removed.
SERVICE EMBLEM
To use an Armed Forces Service Emblem on a plaque service details will be required so that approval can be obtained from The Australian War Graves Office. There is no charge for the service emblem but there is a cost if a larger plaque is required.
CANCELATION OF PRE-PAID AGREEMENT PRIOR TO ORDERING OF PLAQUE
Cancelation of pre-paid niche and memorialization, or of reservation/deposit only will require authority from the person for who the reservation was made or the person holding their Power of Attorney or Executor of their estate. A cancellation/handling fee of $100.00 will be applicable and deducted from the refundable amount.
As of 2021 pre-paid niche and memorialization are no longer offered by the parish. Deposit to reserve a niche for use within 25 years is still available on the payment of a non refundable deposit as shown on below.
DISINTERNMENT
At the request of the executor fo the estate, ashes may be disinterred from a niche and the memorial plaque removed for return to a person authorised by the executor. All rights in regard to the niche will return to the Anglican Parish of Mandurah. There will be no charge for this. It is not possible to disinter and return any ashes interred in the church grounds.

ASHES
LARGE NICHES
Large Niches are large enough to hold the ashes currently
returned by the local crematoriums. However, the ashes may need to be
transferred to different shaped urns in order to best fit them in the niche.
STANDARD NICHES
Standard Niches are not large enough to hold the ashes of an
adult as currently returned by the local crematoriums. It is our normal
practise to transfer approximately half of the ashes into an urn that will fit
the niche and the balance to be returned to the family or interred in the
garden’s surrounding Christ’s Church if this is the family’s wish.
SAFE KEEPING
As a service to families the Anglican Parish of Mandurah offers the op-
portunity of placing ashes under our main altar while awaiting interment.

In the case of a plaque for two people the whole cost of the niche and plaque is to be paid for when the first person dies. The portion of the cost for the second detachable plate and inscription is non-refundable and will be held by the church for 25 years. There will be no further cost for this second inscription with the exception of future Government taxes, charges and levies. If Christs Church hasn’t been contacted within 25 years to extend the arrangements, then the funds will be retained by the church.

First proof supplied by foundry at no cost. Any further proofs will incur a charge of $108.90 each + $9.90 gst = $108.90

IS IT POSSIBLE TO RESERVE A PARTICULAR NICHE FOR LATER USE?
Yes, a particular niche may be reserved for a specific person’s use for a period of 25 years. A non-refundable deposit is required, as detailed below. This amount of money will be held by the Anglican Parish of Mandurah and applied to the then current price when the plaque is required. If a plaque is not ordered within the 25 year time frame the deposit will be forfeited.

DISINTERMENT
At any time after installation of plaque and internment of ashes if disinterment and removal of plaque is requested authority will be required from the Executor of the estate. Ashes interred in a niche may then be disinterred and the memorial plaque removed for return to person authorized by the Executor. Such action cancels all agreement with Christ’s Church in full.
There will be no charge for this nor will there be any refund. In the case of a double niche even if the second interment and memorialization has not taken place the same lack of charge or of refund applies.
Please note that it is not possible to disinter and/or return any ashes interred anywhere other than a niche e.g. from the church grounds.
